The skills I have gained throughout my football career, Pee Wee through High School, have directly contributed to realizing my goal of pursuing a higher education, attending college and playing college football. The leadership skills I have gained throughout my high school football career, as well as the specific playing skills I’ve learned have greatly boosted my self-confidence, specifically confidence in visiting with local businesses, community members, and large groups when pursuing investments in our high school football program. My drive, coupled with leadership skills have elevated me to a team leader and have allowed me to become an underclassman mentor. I have also proven my team dedication and commitment, leading my team during successes and rallying my teammates during downtimes. I have experienced the disappointment of derailments but those experiences have taught me that patience, commitment, and hard work can, and will lead to big successes. I have taken advantage of these leadership, play, and communication skills when visiting with recruiters about college and football opportunities, and am extremely blessed that these skills have guided me to an incredible opportunity playing college football and pursuing my higher education at college of my choice. These two opportunities have long been a dream of mine, and I truly believe the experiences and skills I’ve gained throughout my football career have lead me directly to this opportunity. Football has additionally taught me responsibilities that will guide me when I’m struggling with the college experience, both on and off the field. I know I will have the self-assurance to ask for help when I need it, and just as importantly, to offer the help when others need it. My appreciation for the game goes far beyond the skills learned. I have gained crucial experience but have also learned that a group of people, with the same interests, commitment, and drive can build a strong bond and facilitate great things for their team and community.
