Teaching is one of the noblest and oldest professions known to mankind. Teaching what you know can be analogized to throwing stars into a darkened sky. Teachers: awe, fascinate, glitter, glow, impress, inspire, impress, and motivate. As a result, the murky areas and caves we have illuminated, a light shines far into the ominous abyss of infinity. I consider myself an unorthodox instructor. I do not perceive myself as a teacher in the traditional sense; rather, I am more of a facilitator.

I earned my Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering in December 2006 from the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas with a 3.95 GPA. Before that, I earned my Master of Environmental Science (MES) in 1999 with a 4.0 GPA from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Prior to that, I earned my B.S. at the same school I earned my Masters at with a GPA of 4.0 in 1997. Before doing my Bachelor’s, I earned an AA in Arts and Science in 1995 from Pierce College in Tacoma, Washington with a 3.5 GPA.

I have 25 years of combined experience conducting scientific research and instructing Environmental Science and Engineering courses at: Health Organizations, Colleges, Universities, and in the United States Army. A few of these relevant courses are: Biology, Chemistry, Cultural Geography, Human Geography, Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Issues, Environmental Economics, Global Climate Change, Logic, Natural Resource Management, Oceanography, Mathematics, Physical Geography, Physical Science, Statistics, Technical Writing, Urban Ecology, Water Resources, and Western Water Problems.

My awards, honors and professional affiliations include: Bronze Star Medal, Gulf War, Army Commendation Medals (4), Army Achievement Medals (4). I have been in Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, El Paso Chapter since 2006. I have been a member of the NSTA: National Science Teachers Association since 2000. I was an officer and member in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society since 2000. I have also been a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1992. I am a Canadian Certified Environmental Practitioner (CCEP) since 2010.
