- Tell us about yourself.
My name is Muskan Amin and I am 18 years old. I am a freshman at The University of New Mexico for fall 2017. I am originally from India but I moved here to pursue higher education. I love travelling and meeting new people. I am a confident and a self-driven person who strives to achieve her goals.
- What has been your best experience in school?
My school hosted the Model United Nations (MUN) one year. I was a part of the secretariat/organising committee. This was one of the most valued experiences of my school life. I got to work with many new people and it was after this event that I decided to major in Management.
- What influenced your choice in major?
My majors at The University of New Mexico are General Management and Accounting. I have always had a knack for organizing. I was a part of most of the events in my high-school. Over the years, this interest has cultivated into a serious career option in the field of General Management. Also, I love working with numbers which has made me consider Accounting as a major too.
- How do you envision yourself in 5 years?
I plan on graduating from the University of New Mexico in 3 years with a dual concentration in Accounting and General Management with Honors. After this, I plan on taking a break year to work as an intern, possible in a different country. I want to apply to various leading business schools for optimal learning and experience. Five years from now, I would want to be attending the University of California, Berkeley pursuing higher education.
- What do you hope to learn from your school experience?
To me, school is a place of holistic development (as I have mentioned in my essay.) I look forward to the new experiences that await me at The University of New Mexico. I want to make new friends. I want to learn about different cultures, traditions and religions. I want to be a part of organizations that will help me grow as a person, and that can teach me how to give back to the community in better ways.
- What extracurricular activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy listening to music. Reading books is my favorite pass time activity. I also love meeting new people, which is why I like to volunteer for various events. I have worked as a volunteer in multiple organisations in India. I love learning about different cultures, and I hope to be a part of organizations on campus that can expose me to unique experiences.
