What you need to know to register for the SAT

The time has come and you, or your child, need to register for the SAT.  To get started, follow these basic steps.

How to register

Visit the College Board website.  From that site you can complete registration online.  If you choose to file a paper registration, ask the school guidance counselor for a copy of The Registration Guide for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests.

Deadlines

The College Board offers SAT Subject Tests™ six times each year in October, November, December, January, May and June.  Dates are listed here and registration deadlines here.

If you miss the deadline

You may still be able to register after the deadline but will have to pay an additional late registration fee of $27.50.  If the testing site is full, you may be placed on a waitlist.  For the waitlist you will need to pay a fee of $45.00 on site

Fees

Basic fees for taking the SAT are $51.00 per student.  Waivers may be available for home school students as well as those who may be unable to pay.  Registration fees are not refundable.

How to pay

You can pay by credit card if registering online.  If you would rather write a check, you will have to register through the mail.
