Often times, you’ll find yourself swamped with tests and exams in a short amount of time. With so much to study in such a short period, managing your time becomes very important. Creating a study schedule will help you do so. Here are some tips on how to create a successful study schedule.

1) Start early

Don’t start a day or 2 before your tests, try and make your schedule for at least a week before. This will give you more time to study for everything.

2) Fill in your extra-curriculars and activities first

Do you have soccer game or guitar lessons at a certain time on a certain date? Or going to the movies with your friends? Fill those in first so you know those times are unavailable to you.

3) Break up your subjects

Break down your course into units or sections. Instead of ‘Math’ at 8 o’clock, be more specific and study ‘Geometry’ instead. Breaking down the course into units also allows you to spend more or less time on a particular concept as you see fit. This will also make a large daunting task seem more manageable.

4) Give yourself breaks

Studying is tiring and you need breaks in between. Give yourself a 15 minute break after every hour of studying to help you focus and stay on task.

5) Fill in other daily activities

Don’t forget to schedule in your lunches and dinners, and of course, sleep!

Managing your time wisely is an important skill and creating a study schedule is one of the first steps in building upon that. Hopefully with some of these tips, studying will become a much more manageable task!
