What you need to know to register for the ACT
The time has come and you, or your child, need to register for the ACT. To get started, follow these basic steps.
How to register
Visit the ACT website. From that site you can complete registration online or obtain the information you need to register by mail. If you’re outside the United States, you will need to register online.
Test Dates and Deadlines
The ACT is offered several times a year. Follow this link for a list of dates and registration deadlines.
If you miss the deadline you can request standby registration in the event a slot becomes available.
Fees
There are two basic test fees. If you choose the ACT without the writing portion the fee is $36.50. With the writing portion the fee becomes $52.50. This includes reports to you, your high school and up to as many as four colleges. If you make your request online before the test date, you can add two additional colleges at $12.00 each.
If you can’t afford the fee and meet basic requirements, you may be eligible for a waiver.
How to pay
Payment is online by credit card. If you cannot pay by credit card or if you are under 13, a check with a mailed application is acceptable as payment.
